Craft Haven Collective

Recently San Francisco creatives have had to say goodbye to the fabulous creative crafting schools Craft Gym & Stitch Lounge, but this morning I just got an email from Stitch announcing a new school called the Craft Haven Collective… how exciting!

Here’s what the email announcement said:

Craft Haven Collective was founded by Kelly Williams and Hannah McDevitt, former instructors and staff of Stitch Lounge! They have just launched a brand new sewing and crafting school in San Francisco, offering introductory to intermediate pre-registered classes in sewing, knitting, and crafting. The teachers at Craft Haven Collective are solely focused on making the world a more creative and beautiful place to live in and thrive.

A note from Kelly and Hannah:

“The independent spirit is so important. Bringing new crafters together to continue their growth and education generates new ideas and excitement in the crafting community. We’re here to help you gain the skills to realize your budding visions, whether you’re a new crafter or have been doing it for a lifetime! At the Craft Haven Collective, we bring a high level of professionalism, top of the line equipment, intimate class sizes covering creative and accessible projects that follow today’s latest fashion trends, and focus on education while still having fun. We are centrally located in Potrero Hill, just two blocks from the Potrero Hill Shopping Center, and highly accessible to most mass transit.”

Hmm, maybe we can hold a CoC meeting there some time?

In the meantime, check out their awesome class list here. Welcome CHC! We are glad you’re here & wish you all the best!

San Francisco CoC Kickoff!

I’ve found a space for us to meet & craft together this Sunday! It’s super easy to park (downtown on Sunday – no meters), and this location is a breeze to get to w/ public transportation… only 4 blocks from BART – yes!

Sunday, November 23rd from 12-5pm
Citizen Space
425 2nd Street @ Harrison, #300, SF
(simply buzz #300 when you get there & signs will lead you up to the space on the 3rd floor)

Please bring food & drink to share (casual potluck style encouraged, but definitely not required!).

I don’t really have a Sunday School idea planned (usually scheduled from 12-1pm), but I’d be happy to do a quick “How to custom cut your t-shirt” in-person tutorial, for those interested. So, feel free to bring along (sharp/fabric) scissors & a t-shirt you may want to cut & I’d be happy to walk through it with anyone. This tutorial is also online here, for those who can’t make it.

If anyone else has a Sunday School idea they’d like to teach the group, just speak up. This Sunday would be a great time to craft holiday gifts or greeting cards, too!

We had so much fun crafting together at RPSC last Sunday, that I hope both SF & East Bay crafters will join us for this side of the bay’s CoC Kickoff! If you have any questions at all, please leave a comment on this post or email the SF Church of Craft Coordinator (me), Willo at WilloToons.com

East Bay CoC!

church of craft at RPSC in Oakland!
On Sunday we had crafters knitting (a safety blanket for charity),
sewing (an apron) & I’m making jewelry (and a fantastic crafty mess!)

Thanks to everyone who came out to the kick off meeting for the Bay Area Church of Craft revival! After a year hiatus, it was a great reunion for many long time Church of Crafters, and we had some new people come, too!

Rock Paper Scissors in Oakland was, as always, a great host. It’s such a fun space (retail store & art gallery), so even if you’re not able to join us for a CoC meeting, be sure to stop in there to check out all the incredible indie art & wearables. Also, remember that right around RPSC they do a really great First Fridays (gallery openings & music) called Oakland Art Murmur that is really fun!

Mark your calendars for the next East Bay CoC meeting for Sunday, December 21st, 12-5pm. We have some fun holiday Sunday School ideas & we hope that a few of you staying local will be able to come down, and share some warm cider with us in the spirit of the holidays.

Welcome!

We are so glad you are here!

Currently we have two wonderful ladies hosting our meetings – Lesley hosts meetings in the East Bay and Willo keeps it real in San Francisco. Tristy (co-founder of the Church of Craft and original host for the Bay Area church) is taking a break but is known to pop up at either meeting when she has the time.

Welcome & we hope to craft it up with you in the Bay Area soon!
